New Rules On Exporting Toys to USA --Yiwu Trading Enterprises face new request on toy exporting

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued new rules that US toy safety new standard, known as ASTMF963-17, effective on Feb. 28, 2018.  There is a remind, Yiwu trading enterprises shall keep eyes on the changing of new product request in target market of foreign countries.

According to customs data, the toys export in China last year is arguably the best in the last decade, both in terms of the number of products exported and the amount. However, the technical trade protection in foreign countries is intensified, resulting in the rising of the product export threshold, exporting cost and risk increasing.

The new US toy safety standard ASTMF963-17 has entered into force. It has a big impact on plastic toys especially.The standard sets out toys technical requirements and testing methods for children under 14 years.  The toys do not meet the new standard will not be able to enter the US market. Yiwu as a key base of toy production and exporting, this new standard has also attracted many toy enterprises attention.

The new standard raising a new request on rechargeable lithium batteries. In particular, the testing requirements for toys, expansion toys, toy boxes and other toys containing rechargeable batteries and batteries have been added, and the requirements for heavy metals and microbiological indicators have been revised. Toys that previously met old standard may not meet the new standards. Industry insiders say the new standards have a greater impact on plastic toys, with little impact on plush toys.
